hello
I am a french civil engineer and I have to make a seismic study in Abu Dhabi.
I put myself on the UBC97 but I discover the ASCE7-05.
I does not understand why there are 2 different codes in the United States.
In which case does have one to use them?
Thank you very much

The Uniform Building Code 1997 has it's own seismic design requirements.

The International Building Code 2000, 2003 or 2006 all reference ASCE 7

IBC 2000 - references ASCE 7-98
IBC 2003 - references ASCE 7-02
IBC 2006 - references ASCE 7-05

In the US, you would first determine which building code applies to your region or city.  Then based on that code, determine which ASCE 7 to use.

I do not know what code Abu Dhabi typically would accept.  Perhaps you could talk to officials there in Abu Dhabi. 字串6

gurv10,

UBC97 is the approved seismic code for earthquake in Abu Dhabi and allover UAE, Abu Dhabi is considered as seismic zone 2A as per UBC97 classifications.
