we have a existing hollow block wall ,non load bearing partition, we need to create opening at one end ,the opening span will have  16' span we intend to put a WF8*24  for a lintel ,on one side  of the opening the block wall will be 16" long where it intersects the exterior bldg wall.the opening will be 8.67' high  ,thus the end of the lintel will be bearing on a section of wall 8.67" high by 16" in lenght ,where can I find data to check for load carrying capacity of this small column like section of wall.

Hire a structural engineer.  There may be more going on than you think.  This may in fact be a shear wall of sorts.

W/O looking at the whole building - any guess would be uneducated. 字串2

ditto.  If you don't know what you are doing then get someone who does.

I dont know much about the iron you plan to use, but the block should hold with no problem, especially since it is a non load bearing wall. i suggest that you fill the block pier at both ends of the opening fully with grout, also embed a steel plate in the concrete at both ends of the iron so that it can be welded down to the plate.

Careful there Brickmason...interior walls have lateral loads on them as well.

Get a structural engineer involved. JAE and Mike are exactly right.
